  • Virtual Dermatology gives you online consultations with Dermatologists.

Many other “telehealth” services are purely text based and the doctors often don’t have any further qualifications or training.

This might be fine for a sick certificate, but can be dangerous for any actual diagnosis or management. Even a condition like Acne requires specialist knowledge to be treated properly.

  • Yes, we use only the highest levels of encryption and adhere to the highest standards of cyber security.

Unlike most other telehealth services, we only use commercial grade software and providers based in Australia. We don’t use any hacked together websites and forms that leave your data unsecured!

For example, our secure photo upload portal stores your photos directly in your medical record, where only your Dermatologist can access them. No photos being stored on foreign servers and no photos being sent via emails.

You’d be shocked if you knew how your data was handled by other telehealth providers. One of the main reasons to choose Virtual Dermatology!

  • Occasionally, your Dermatologist may determine that you need an in-person consultation. This might be because you require a procedure or surgery.

Rarely, it may be because we cannot safely diagnose and treat you without an in-person consultation.

Should you need an in-person consultation or procedure, our Dermatologists still work at traditional clinics, and are happy to see you there. Should distance be an issue, they will help facilitate the best doctor/location for you to see.

  • A telehealth consult for a New Patient is $295.
    - with a GP referral, you’ll receive a $81.30 rebate from Medicare

A telehealth consult for an existing patient is $230.
    - with a GP referral, you’ll receive a rebate of $41.30.

These fees reflect the experience and expertise of our specialist Dermatologists. It also reflects the time and effort taken to review information, review photos and complete paperwork - all of which happens before and after your consult.

  • We require pre-payment of your consultation to make things easier on the day of the appointment. No need to worry about phone calls chasing you up for payment.

This also protects us from unfortunate incidents where people have received a consult and then tried to avoid paying.

Should you need to cancel your appointment for a legitimate reason with at least 24 hours notice, we’ll gladly refund the pre-payment amount.

  • Dermatology is uniquely placed as being ideal for virtual consults and telehealth. By taking photos and uploading them beforehand, it allows our Dermatologists to accurately diagnose your condition. We can also perform screening checks to make sure your photos are of adequate quality. Remember - your photos are securely uploaded directly to your medical record and nowhere else!

Trying to show a lesion or a rash during the video call is very difficult and the quality of the images just aren’t good enough. Unfortunately we can’t perform a consultation unless images are uploaded beforehand.

  • We are a medical and specialist practice. This means we are required to obtain certain information in order to provide our medical services.

Because we’re fully online, we need to ensure we have this information before the consultation - unlike physical clinics, we can’t just ask you to fill out a form when you arrive in person!

By pre-filling your medical history and condition questionnaire, it also allows the Dermatologist to have a thorough understanding of you and your issues. It makes the entire process much more efficient and is one of the reasons we are able to offer rapid access to our online Dermatologists.

If you are unable to complete the form and upload photos at least 24 hours prior to your appointment, we will unfortunately have to postpone your appointment.

  • We understand sometimes unavoidable events occur - if you are unable to make your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice, so that someone else can receive care instead.

Our Dermatologists’ time is a valuable resource, so there is a 100% cancellation fee if you cancel within 24 hours or if you fail to show for your appointment.

We want to provide you with the best care possible, so we require you to fill out the patient questionnaire and upload your photos at least 24 hours before your appointment. Unfortunately we will have to postpone your appointment if you do not complete the required forms in time.
