Remember to always use our secure portal to upload your photos. It’s normal to worry about privacy and data safety when it comes to sharing sensitive photos. Rest assured that using our secure upload portal puts your photos directly into your medical record, where only your Dermatologist can access them. No photos via email and no photos stored on servers in other countries - one of the main reasons to choose Virtual Dermatology!

5 tips and tricks to taking the best photos for tele-dermatology

1. Get a friend or family member to help

2. Make sure there is good lighting

3. Take a far away shot that captures the extent and distribution of the rash / acne / lesion. This may need multiple photos, e.g. front and back views.

If your skin condition affects two or more areas of your body, please take full body photos from the front and back. Make sure you are in your swimmers / underwear so that your Dermatologist can see the full distribution of the rash.

4. Take a close up photo that captures the details and morphology of the rash / acne / lesion

5. Take and upload as many photos as you want - we’d rather too many photos than not enough
